| History: |
-- picked up May 2nd - has been in for initial 600 mile service, and will be getting first set of tires soon - currently 1400 miles - |
| Modifications: |
-- dealer installed race exhaust and ecu - installed tank protector, chin, and rear brake resevoir protectors (clear film) myself - at the very least the chin will need something, as it chips very easily |
| Problems: |
-- nothing to speak of was true last week - i've now got over 1500 miles, and 1 problem has arisen that others should know about - it seems that after re-fueling, the overflow hose lets out a significant amount of fuel, as if someone turned on a faucet - there must be a connection from the cap overflow, and another area in the gas tank, as no fuel is getting into the upper gas cap area, where the beginning of the overflow hose is - closing and opening the cap (reducing and releasing pressure) does stop and start the flow - after a significant amount of fuel empties itself, it no longer leaks out - i will speak with service when they open on tuesday and update this information as needed
UPDATE: -- well, i discovered the culprit, and repaired it - one of the vent hoses inside the fuel tank was disconnected - there are 2 vents, each with their own hose - one end goes to the vent flange under the gas cap, and the other end goes to an exit point on the bottom of the tank
-- the upper end of the 6 o'clock positioned vent (under the fuel cap) came off, and was resting in the tank - i had to remove the entire cap assembly, and reconnect the hose line again
-- it seems that the original connection cut through the hose, essentially cutting the end off - they use a miniature radiator hose clamp to secure it (a rolled edged one at that) but it still cut through (it might have been a bad hose to start with, that went unnoticed) |
| Comments: |
-- beyond expectation (those 2 words sum up what i've written below)
-- great motorcycle - a true thrill to ride - still very new, and going thru break-in rpm's according to schedule, with a few stretches of the rpm's here and there - it rev's beautifully, with a precision and balance i did not fully expect, but the fact that its a 4 cyl i am sure makes a big difference (having been used to twins) - one minute i feel very comfortable, and at ease with it, and the next i realize it needs attention, both at the throttle and with turn in, this is its true essence for being - turn in is with ease and precision that i thought only 250's or 600's were capable of....the sedici is so pleasing, it can surely be "the only bike you'll ever want" - exhaust note is perfect (ear plugs are a necessity) - full rides might require you to bury some gas cans along your chosen route (not complaining, just an observation) - tires are grippy, just shy of slicks for the street, and wear out accordingly (not complaining, just an observation) |
